Never got to sail on Calypso but I did on Alcyone. Pretty cool. The vessel in the upper right is the 158 ft Golden Dawn which we were originally going to sail to the other Channel Islands. The other images are from early Cousteau Project Ocean Search programs and filming we did for a 2-hour special on the Channel Islands.

Certainly needs a billionaire benefactor with a "fix it, cost no object" approach.
Thats exactly what they had. The Calypso was leased from Thomas Loel Evelyn Bulkeley Guinness, OBE since the beginning for 1 franc a year. Hope Francine has kept up payments.

Legal squabbles and infighting took the gloss off restoration attempts and the longer things drag on the ship remains in an unfinished state and may end up as disjointed display pieces.
