stage leash looks like that. Usually as a double ender. Regular bolt snaps work too.

With the double ender, you can still release the bottle if one of the gates jams.

On the other hand, the use of a double ender may increase the probability of losing the bottle as it has two gates versus one. The swivel also reduces the possibility of the single gate accidentally opening.

Having had double enders mysteriously release themselves, I opt for the single bolt snap with the swivel.

I typically use 5mm braided line from West Marine. It's usually stocked in various colors or patterns and sold by the foot.

Mine is a little longer, pink, and a fixed snap. Does the same thing over a my manly butt

Double ender also helps not to mix it up with stage bottle's bolt snaps as it feels different, so prevents accidental leash unclipping.
I personally block one of its ends with the duct tape
