Where are the sharks in Europe?

I've seen a few Dogfish in Ireland, UK and mainland Portugal. But to really have a good chance of seeing nice sharks, the best spot should be the Azores. Mainly blue sharks and mako, but even whale sharks have been seen.

Im malta we have a number of species of shark around the waters, from 6 Gills, Reef Sharks, Rays and even the occasional Great White!

Back in the 60s and 70s there were plenty of sharks in our waters (SoCal) but today they are a rare sighting topside or underwater. I imagine the same is true in Europe as well. Mike had it correct... they've been caught and many finned.
