    Dear colleagues,

Where is your stand in the controversy surrounding the method whereby the search line is attached to the diver.

    What harness are you using?

    Thank you,

Could you elaborate more on the controversy? My divers are trained to do fan patterns while teathered to a line. We have in line communications so we can communicate diver to tender. Should the communication fail we are able to use pull signals. One thing we use is a blow out for the line. In the event of an emergency My divers are able to pull the blow out and be off the .

Holding onto the working end of the search line by hand or attached to a harness!

Our guys are attached to the harness in case the back up diver needs to get to them quick. Never heard of any controversy....procedures vary by department.

We had some harnesses made for us by Seatec.

We use quick release shackles to attach the line to them.

My team and another in the county use a harness with the quick release shackles.
