To Sealife Joe:

I received u/w photo-video light for christmas. I have yet to use it (will do so March 5th- off to Roatan), but I was able to play with the camera, strobe and light. The instructions to the video light says the camera should be set to "cloudy" on video and photo. I am able to change the white balance to "cloudy" when I am in video mode, but I am not able to change it while the camera is on "external flash either auto or manual". When I scroll to change the white balance, it is shaded out and therefore, it is not an option. I am under the impression this is the default and cannot be manipulated. Please confirm. Thanks for your help.

You are 100% right! The default in External Flash Mode is "cloudy" so nothing to set there. remember to stay close when using the Photo Video Light in the 2-3 foot range would be best.

Looking forward to seeing some of you videos and pics when you return.

Joe

Thanks. Also, can you tell me which is the preferred setting for the video light? It is not clear to me on the instructions? Default is H. I changed to to G (to be able to use as a spot light when taking pictures and turn off when flash goes off) I will play around with the settings, but would like to hear your reccomendation. thanks again for your assitance.

The default setting is my preference. Reason is, that when I am shooting with a single strobe, SL961, and the Photo video Light, the light helps fill in and eliminate the shadows.
