As I mentioned before, I got the vaccine last fall as part of the Moderna trial, though I didn't know for sure I had gotten it and not the placebo until late last month. Now my parents have both gotten both doses as well. We've been seeing each other for socially-distanced backyard picnics, but this weekend I got to hug them. It was a good day.

Oh yeah, that's clear as mud. :)

It amazes me that radiologists can determine anything beyond "these bits are bones". MRIs and CTs aren't much better to my eye. It is scary that they can actually use these fuzzy low-contrast monochrome images to make decisions like removing body parts.

Most often, they do not. They do it "just in case" and because the insurance pays.

Yes that is true. My wife is in the Medical field and when shes see's those kinds of images there are things that Jump out at her because she knows what to look for. Images like that are cheap and they just give you a Go / No Go info. If they see anything they don't like then more detailed imaging is done.

Your perspective seems a little... narrow, perhaps limited to a minor fraction of the industrialized world.

I thought that one only required three weeks before the second?

You do realize that nothing is actually free - you are paying for it in taxes if not directly. I don’t know of anyone who works for free!

What some of you seem to not understand is that when we Euros say "free", what we usually mean is "free at point of use and equally available to everyone". We are quite aware that virtually nothing in this world is literally free.

Looks like most of the world has some catching up to do. Nothing unusual there.
