I dont' think they're squid eggs.
I didn't really think so either. The typical squid egg sacks here have about the same consistency, diameter and color as those in the photo. But the actual squid egg sacks are elongated and usually attached to something upright in clusters.

There are a number of polychaete worms which produce mucus egg sacs and I'm pretty sure that's what you photographed.
