I wondered the same thing, till I realized while gender-based perspective may impact how one is affected and/or color how one perceives a few issues, it's a tiny minority that are truly unique to either gender. All the more so since men at least have mothers and many have wives, sisters and daughters, and women fathers, husbands and sons, or opposite gender dive buddies.

I suspect what got the ball rolling here is the women's perspectives where a minority of posters have been perceived as resentful of critical input on topics contrary to their views, because said input came from male posters. Challenges such as 'why are you posting here' (even though it's allowed)? Trying to write off criticism as sexist rather than analyze and debate the contention on its merits. Vilifying male posters who debate some aspects of a female poster's post.

    Thankfully it's a small minority.

    Richard.

Most of the topics discussed in a men's forum would be a TOS violation.

Women need to vent about this: image.jpg
More than men need to vent about this:

But there are certainly topics men need to vent about, like how annoying and dangerous poorly trained insta-buddies can be.

Honestly Richard, I think that one person's response was a bit of trolling. I don't see the need for gender specific forums myself. It's diving, not procreating. Or at least one would hope...

If men need to deal with periods, pregnancies, post-partum issues, hysterectomies, hormonal changes, etc. and need to figure out how they affect their diving and how other people deal with them, then maybe men would need a men's forum. Women's unique issues weren't well represented before the women's forums without people filtering through them who may not have been interested or people just posting jokes or lewd comments diluting serious responses. Just as a lot of unisex equipment appears to be based on male proportions, not everything applies the same way to females, especially those who identify with some of what I've written above.

Besides, dealing with long hair, keeping bangs out of your mask, nailpolish that chips less, and waterproof makeup that stays on can be valid issues too.

The women's forums aren't women only, btw, and men's opinions are generally accepted and appreciated.
