I was reading the thread on why there are no young divers (I am 63 and new OWD so the thread was relevant) It made me think of the old TV show Sea Hunt (cc 1958). It was a big hit when I was 8 years old. It so made me want to get into fights underwater and blow millions of bubbles at the same time. And yes, that is Jeff Bridges dad. Then I started reading a thread about buddy responsibility and it made me think of this episode.

If anyone enjoys this, there is an entire library of shows on you tube.

I love me some Sea Hunt. At an annual pro event I used to attend, there was always a raffle. One of the prizes was always a boxed set of Sea Hunt. It had been years since someone from my dive shop won the set. My then girlfriend/now ex-wife attended for her first time and won. When the crowd groaned that a young (egad!sarcasm) woman won, the MC asked if she even knew what it was. She responded, "Yeah, I love that movie". I could only cringe and sink into my seat so far. Time to re-watch the classics that got my dad into diving! :)

I think I have 39 shows of Sea hunt. Been showing them to my kids

Last one is "the Manganese Story" (sp?)

I don't believe I've ever seen sea hunt, but I'll check that episode out anyway.

Cool show! I wish it was currently being filmed/aired with modern diving and filming gear!

I have all the episodes on DVD. If you go to my profile the avatar is me at age ?8-9? as a young Mike Nelson. :)

I watched "Sea Hunt" when it originally aired and it was a factor in getting me into diving. Today I dive sites where some of it was filmed around my home, Catalina Island. In fact, the pinnacle rock seen at the end of each episode is kn own as "Mike Nelson Rock" by us locals and was located in the bay where my biology lab is when I was a private school marine biology teacher in the late 60s and through the 70s. Zale Parry comes out occasionally to dive the Casino Point Dive Park and I have had the pleasure of talking with her at length in the past.
