Will a YS-27DX handle wide angle?

I'm mainly going to be doing close up stuff and understand the limit of light penetration, distance wise.

But as far as horizontal coverage, will it be able to cover enough territory in tandem with a Inon UWL-100 wide angle lens?
 
It depends what kind of shots you are taking. In wide angle you need to shot anyway with mix of ambient and strobe light. That strobe covers around 2 meters. Check some of the reef pictures here with your same strobe Best of Thailand 2009 - a set on Flickr
 
In general, the answer is no. BUT if you are interested in simply lighting something in the foreground of a reef scene then maybe if you can get really close.
