Hi, Tobin
I'm 6'1 tall,190Lb, using 7mm wet suit, 120Al cylinder, diving cold water.
What complete rig should I use? Can I use bolt on weight plates?
Thanks.

Maslovda,

At 6'1" tall you need a large plate. For cold water the ballast provided by a SS plate will be helpful.

Beyond that I'm guessing a bit. I'm unaware of any 120 cu ft aluminum cylinders.

What I really need to know is:

What exactly are you currently using for a cylinder?

What are you currently using for a BC?

How much lead are you using with that cylinder, your current BC and your 7mm suit.

With that info I can estimate the buoyancy of your suit. That will allow me to make recommendation on wing size and whether or not the weight plates are a good idea.

Hi, Tobin
Its all new set, I used to dive with 5mm in salt water, Agir SSBP28, wing Blackbird 28STW, 2 kilos lead, and now planning to dive in quarry fresh water.

Unless you want me to *guess* you need to test your new suit's buoyancy.

Based on your range of planned uses for this equipment there are several ways to approach this. Probably best for you to give me a call. 626-799-5078.

Hi, Tobin
I've tested my new suit buoyancy, its 20-22 Lb.

At 6'1" I'd recommend a Large SS Plate.

With a large plate, harness and full aluminum 80 your rig will be about -11 lbs, and will provide about 5 lbs of ballast with an empty tank. If your suit is ~+20 you will need another 14-16 lbs. of ballast. That makes the bolt on weight plates a good option. Using the weight plates will make your rig about -19 lbs negative with a full aluminum 80. That makes a Torus 26 a good choice for a wing.

Recap:

For your new suit (7mm) and aluminum 80's

Large SS Plate
Torus 26 wing
Hogarthian Harness
(cambands and wedge blocks included)

Optional 8.1 lbs (per pair) bolt on weights for the large back plate.

If you use steel tanks you can unbolt the weight plates.

Thanks a lot, before my order, what configuration you will recommend for 3mm wet suit, the same 80 Al?
