Hey, I'm a recreational diver looking to move from a jacket style BCD to backplate and bladder. I dive all year round usually in the Mediterranean (so a 5 mil or no suit at all) and once a year I dive in the north sea so a double 7. I'm looking for a daily driver that I'll be able to modify in the future if needed.
With no suit I use 8 pounds of weights and with the 5 I use 16, cant recall the exact number with the double 7.
And now for my question' what do you think about the xDeep NX ghost standard/deluxe versions? Pros/cons, will it fit my situation in your opinion?
My budget is around 500 dollars, feel free to suggest other options.
Thanks ahead and good dives!

Note that the xdeep ghost is not modular. It’s not a standard backplate and wing where you can switch backplates or wings depending on your needs.

Are you sure?

I looked on their Webpage and it appears to be modular (bladder, harness and plate can separate)

I'm off to my X-Deep dealer tomorrow to pick up some side mount accessories so I'll check

My one dislike is that the rear dump is part way up the bladder on the side. I guess you could get used to it, but it's not ideal

To OP:

I use both normal and deluxe harnesses. The deluxe is easier to adjust between exposure suits - it depends how important that is

There is no difference in comfort

The quick releases can help if you have mobility issues, but I never use mine (I use the Dive Rite TransPac and Trans Plate, as I like that that harness puts the tank weight on your hips. I dive large steels and am always on a boat deck so that's important to me

That’s my understanding. The ghost is a travel rig. Let’s confirm with @Trailboss123 who actually owns one.

As @Diving Dubai has said, the XDeep NX Ghost is modular. Everything can be separated and swapped out. I researched long and hard to find something that would work for me in both cold water/drysuit diving and warm water/minimal exposure protection environments. Whereas, you can swap things and go modular, I didn't want to be switching wings or anything else. I was looking for 1 rig that would meet all of my needs and that I wouldn't have to mess with.

I dive recreationally in both cold and warm water and Divemaster in cold water. I don't dive doubles or sidemount. The XDeep Ghost totally met all of my needs. Super lightweight for travel, but with enough lift to work in cold water climates. I love mine, for my needs.
As for the OP, my "personal" preference is with the deluxe for a few reasons. Coming from a traditional jacket style setup, it makes for an easier transition and as was mentioned by @Diving Dubai it can be a real advantage for people with shoulder issues to have the luxury of quick release buckles for ease of donning and doffing. I would also concur that if I have one pet peeve with the rig at all, it would be the placement of the dump valve on the wing. Whereas it isn't 1/2 way up the bladder, it is definitely 1/4 to 1/3 of the way. I'd certainly prefer it to be lower and wouldn't mind having a 2nd one on the right side also. That being said, that is not a big issue once you adapt to it and certainly doesn't come close to outweighing all of the positives for which I chose it.

I like the placement and location of the "optional" ditchable weight pockets. Puts the lead just under the rib cage/at the belly button instead of lower around the hips. I also like the unique crotch strap design. Very comfortable! Happy to answer any other questions.

Thanks for correcting me @Trailboss123 . I’ve always thought it was not modular, like the Halcyon Traveler Pro or Dive Rite Travelpac.

Hi @Trailboss123 a quick question for you (or anyone else that may have the Ghost).

I recently received it (but haven't got it wet yet) and as I am unfamiliar with crotch straps in general, I was wondering how much slack should it have. Did you have to adjust yours when you received it fro xdeep? Any guide you could give me as to what to look for?
I'm a little over 5' 8" and have the one for 175cm and over if that helps.

Thanks,
Marc

I would just adjust it so that it is snug - not much slack. Try it on with the exposure protection you intend to wear and adjust accordingly.
