You ever accidently hit some keys on your keyboard

and then your computer starts doing weird things. I hit some combination and now, whenever I try to type the apostrophe, I get some search thing that I cannot get out of and the apostrophe will not type. When I try to click on a red x there to close it, it disappears from the bottom of my screen.

Maybe you visited some website that loaded a script or activeX control or some such nonsense onto your computer.

Full reboot, maybe even with a power off is called for.

If rebooting doesn't fix it, run your scans. If nothing, try free ones at Microsoft - Defender and Avast Virus protection.

#9 adjuster has always worked for me. If you don't have a #9, just substitute with a claw hammer or ballpein.

it could be an interface problem between the keyboard and the chair... I see that a lot
