YS-D2 flooded on first use... what next?

One of my YS-D2s flooded last month without any obvious reason why after 300+ dives

My replacement is a yellow Japanese made one as the original pair I purchased were black Chinese models, not that there should be a difference I didn't specify when I bought the original pair.

The flooded strobe also had water in the flash area.
 
I think that the failure point is that it might let more water in if you got a drop on the cap. If the relief valve gets stuck open (you could take it apart and clean it out) then you might have more trouble.
