A ScubaBoard Staff Message...

there's been a bit of a thread clean up. Potty humour is unnecessary and inappropriate in this Subforum.

I suspect there are a lot of other factors that are more likely to cause your issues rather than lack thereof.

For example, a change in salinity or newer/different wetsuit.

When you drop a turd, does it float? When you fart underwater, do the bubbles rise or sink?

It's not that easy. Air will certainly rise when it is released into the water, but the compressed air inside a scuba tank makes it heavier and therefore less buoyant.

But we are talking about air inside your gut. A liter of air weighs 1.29 grams at standard temperature and pressure. So if I've done my math right, we would need to compress it to 773 bar (11,211 psi) for it to becomes neutrally buoyant. It is somewhat unlikely that constipation could provide sufficient pressure, whatever it may feel like.

:)

Isn't it a well know fact that shiit floats and hence diver's buoyancy will be affected?
Depends on diet and a bunch of digestive factors that vary from person to person.
