We're proud to announce the new WD-4 Wide Angle Conversion Dome for the Ikelite housing for the Canon G10. This accessory restores the G10's original 28mm angle of coverage underwater. Since it simply slides onto the front of the housing's original port, the WD-4 can be removed and replaced as desired during a dive.

Please see the following webpage for complete details:
WD-4 Wide Angle Dome for Canon G10

The WD-4 is available for pre-order now and should begin shipping late this month.

It's possible that we will eventually offer an additional internal wide angle lens option for the G10. Right now we're still in the process of looking for and evaluating lenses. I will keep you posted.

Jean, I have a question that I also asked over on the Canon forum...

What, exactly, does it mean in the WD-4 doco where you say:
Approximately 3/4 of the camera's zoom range can be used with the dome in place.
Is that an focusing depth issue or a vignetting issue or a physical lens length issue?

Note: I haven't had an opportunity to get my hands on a G10 yet, but may be buying one sight-unseen based on availability of options and my experiences borrowing a friend's G9 (albeit on dry land).

Hello,

I'am manager of Dyron brand we are specialized in acccessories and lenses for underwater photo and video housing.
We have good news: we have developed wide angle and special port for G10 ikelite housing.:D

Actually it's impossible to use wide angle because all the wide angle of the market (Ikelite, Epoque, Inon) can't be used without vignetting, that's why Ikelite put a port without M67 on this housing.

The only one wide angle possible for now on this housing is Dyron WA24-M67, the result is around 24mm without any vignetting without any deformations or aberations the angle is around 85Ž¼Ž², the picture is 100% perfect. :D
The macro is also possible on this port with any macro lenses M67.

Hope Ikelite will be interesting by this unique product. :)

Good dives, good pictures.

Hello. IŽ´m new to this forum, and escuse me for my english.

Dyron Staff
When you say:
"The only one wide angle possible for now on this housing is Dyron WA24-M67, the result is around 24mm without any vignetting without any deformations or aberations the angle is around 85Žº, the picture is 100% perfect.

You mean that I can use an Ikelite case for G10 (#6147.10) shipped with your short port HCG10 (like Plongimage does) and use either the WA lens (WA24-M67 equivalent to 100Žº coverage) or change it on the same dive by a macro lens like UCL67, right?

But, with the short port on the Ike where can I go on Zooming in, for macro purposes?
Then what's the diference for the HLG10 (Long port)?

thank you

Hello

Yes it's exactly this, you can use wide angle lenses M67WA24 or W20(WA20 is better).
And change under water to put macro lenses M67.

With the short port DYRON for G10 Ikelite housing you can zoom 4 times.
On the long port specialy designed for macro you can use full range zoom.

Good dives !

The G10 camera under Ikelite housing with original flat port is 37mm (28x1.3)

If you change this port and put a short one in addition with 0.5x wide angle the result is arround 18mm.
This short port exist, this lenses 0.5x exist too
Hi Dyron:
And how could you do that?? :eyebrow::eyebrow: Trying to take off the ikelite primary port could be difficulut for people who don't know too much about brico-sub.
Thank you

Hello

You do not need to be "BRICO SUB INGENIOR" to change the original port on the Ikelite housing.
You do not need any tool, just your hand.

All the Dyron distributors or dealers seeling Ikelite G10 housing change for you the original port by our M67 short one.

Good dives

Well:
I live in London and I don't find Dyron distributor around here,Would you please tell me where can I go to resolve this problem?
Thank you

Dyron says:

(...)Yes it's exactly this, you can use wide angle lenses M67WA24 or W20(WA20 is better).
And change under water to put macro lenses M67.(...)

Do you assure that there isn´t any issue like vigneting or distortion on edges using your short port and a WA lens like WA24 ou WA20 with Ikelite G10 case? Even at widest zooming (28mm)?

Thanks

Hi all together,

I bought all this Dyron staff, means short and long port including the wide angle and the macro lens. There are some limitations:
If you use the short port with the wide angle lens,
you will have
a vignetting between 28 mm and rond about 40 mm. If you use more than r.a. 90 mm zoom the camera objective will crash aganinst the front lens of the port and will go into an error state.
If you use the long port for the macro lens you also will have at the beginning of the zoom range a vignetting and at the end you will loose the autofocus function.

So I am disappointed about the dyron lenses for the promisses by dyron in this board were the reason to by this staff.

Now I bought the Ikelite Dome Port and took alot of test pictures not only in the pool, but also in a lake. this port is really great, no vignetting at 28mm an you get sharp edges also under bad sight conditions.

If you really want to have a wide angle solution, take the Ike dome lens and not the Dyron solution. Dyron is ok for normal macro conditions with the dyron long port and macro lens, but I hope Ikelite will also develop a macro solution.
