Scubapro Faber Italy Tank?

Anyone know the specs on this tank? Here are the engravings:

Scubapro DOT-3AA 3000 85/9035/ 101 M8303 Faber Italy 5 A 85 +

CORRECTION: The tank is right about 21" tall and ~7" in diameter (circum = 22").

This tank is not on any spec sheet I can find.

Steel 85 is what I see. Has a plus rating which means 10% of 3000 or 3300psi. Made for scubapro

Thanks, yes, I see that too. Problem is I can't find a spec sheet that shows a Faber 85 rated at 3000 psi. So I'm both uncertain of the 85 and the spec (buoyancy, etc).

The spec sheet I have does list a Faber 80 at 3180 +10%.

They sounds like MP 72s. The wife had a set as doubles.

Well, I certainly hope they are not 72's. The diameter is a tad greater than the old (6.9")and new 72's (6.84). This tank's diameter is every bit of 7" and the height is pretty much spot on 21". The closest tank of same height and diameter I can find on a spec sheet is to an OMS 66, but that tank has a service pressure of 2400, while my Scubapro tank has a service pressure of 3000.

Curious that no one is familiar with this tank.

6.75" diameter (plus minus some paint and spray galvanizing)

Mahjong, It is an 72, the 85 is on it twice and that is the year it was made. Now if you do a little research on tanks

Faber 72 3000+10% outer diameter is 6.75 tank height is 20.5 empty weight is 28.7 bouyancy empty, lbs (w/valve) -3.7 bouyancy full, lbs(w?valve) -8.45 total lbs full 36.


Anyways I fill to 3500 + and have around 3500 when start of dive, I have taken this down past 200' and have plenty enough gas for deco obligation.

It is my favorite tank to dive and I mainly use it for spear fishing.

It is also easy for donning overhead, and less weight on belt.

As VooDoo said the 85 is year of mfg.

And as RJack said the diameter and height can vary my batch. People putting together doubles often find .25" difference in cylinders.

I'm stunned. The diameter is indeed a full .25" off the specs (6.75") of a 72. The guy who sold the tank to me told me it was an 80.

If the diameter is a full .25" greater than the 72 specs, does this mean that the tank holds more than 72 cu ft of air? And if the answer is 'no', then I should think this would mean that the internal dimension are on spec, in which case I should think that this would mean that the walls are thicker than the spec and that the tank weighs quite a bit more than the spec and that the buoyancy characteristics are different from the specs...no?

More like you got more paint and galvanizing than you were supposed to. Interior diameter is who knows what as well.
