Heading to Grand Cayman July 5-12th, I'm just getting back into diving after being away for 25 years so I will probably only do shallow water afternoon dives. Staying at the Anchorage Condos. Looking for suggestions on who is a good outfit to use. I would prefer a limited number of people on the boat. Also, would be interested in a "Discover Diving" trip for my kids (ages 16,14,12) to see if they like it and want to get certified next year. I contacted Divers Down on the suggestion of my instructor at the LDS who lived there for 8 years but wanted to see if anyone had other suggestions. Thanks.

I can certainly do mornings, but they seem to be deeper dives down near 100ft on the wall followed by the kittiwake which goes down to 60 ft. Figured it might be best if I start with something around 40ft. I completed approx. 25 dives previously to depths on 90 ft, but I haven't been in the water in forever. Living the Dream seems to get great reviews.

Most of the dive operators do indeed offer morning 2 tank dives that typically begin with a deeper wall dive, followed by a shallow reef dive between 20-60 feet. However, the deeper wall dive typically comes with an option to stay up on top of the wall in the 40-65 foot range or descend deeper 65-100 feet. Most operators put 2 divemasters in the water. One for the deep group and one for the top of the reef group. Good luck finding an operator. Lots of great ones on the west end.

I can recommend Divetech. Dove with them several days during our May trip. Nice boat and great DM/guides. The second day afternoon dive was just Eric and I but they went out anyway and basically tailored two dives just for us. Thanks Matt, Richard and Drew.

I am also a big fan of Divetech. Great people, great boats. Our AM dives had bigger groups and did deeper dives. We did a PM dive with them our last trip that was just our foursome and they also tailored two dives for us (thanks Christian and Marie!). I don't know if it's a possibility without certification with the discover scuba program, but if it is or if the kids get certified, we really enjoyed the Stingray City dive much more than snorkeling the sandbar. It's a 12-15' dive.

There are many top of the wall dives in the depth range you're looking for that are incredibly beautiful. I hope the kids enjoy it!

I had a great experience with Neptune's divers
Cayman's Original | 8 DIVERS MAXIMUM

Dove for three days with them, and on two of the days it was just two divers, plus the two DMs (they trade off dives). On the other day we had a family with a couple of kids. They were great in making sure the dive sites were within our comfort zone. And they also pick up.

I personally use either DNS or Wall to Wall.

There are many ops based on the West side of GC. Pretty much all are competitive. Personal preference rules.

Divetech is good. Check at also Tom at Off The Wall diving. He runs a small boat, has been in the business a long time and was a pleasure to dive with. When my daughter and I wanted to do a one tank pm dive he accommodated us. We were the only ones on the boat. Off The Wall Divers <fish@candw.ky>
