New divers with question on calculating min sufrace intervals!

?? 70ft for 29 mins puts you in "N" according to the above linked table. 50ft for 39 mins requires "M" according to the same table. "M" intersects "N" with a minimum surface interval of 4 minutes.

Can't link my aeris epic to the transmitter

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. I've only made 8 dives with mine so far but it's done well in dives to 107ffw and 56F. I too hope your experience is not indicative of their quality. Keep us posted on how they treat you.

    Lake Jocassee Etiquette

Hmmm. May not be a big deal for you and your sister, but your older, overweight, and out-of-shape dad has a hard time climbing up that mountain to the parking lot with gear and weights on. :)

Can't link my aeris epic to the transmitter

You've probably already done this so I apologize in advance (but sometimes even the simple things slip by us). Put the computer in front of the transmitter (where it would be if you were wearing it) and turn the tank valve off. Wait a few seconds and then slowly open the tank valve back up...

What inspired you to start diving?

Neither me nor any of my family spent any time around the water. We rarely went to the beach and never spent time on the lake. My daughter is a senior in high school this year. For awhile she had been saying that she wanted to major in marine biology or some related field. During this past...

    Anybody taking Blood Pressure meds???

I'm on both blood pressure (Toprol XL 100mg) and cholesterol (Vytorin 10/40) meds. Was cleared by the Doc to dive. The meds do make me feel a little more tired than without them and I have some mild joint and muscle aches. Funny though, all that seems to go away in the water.

    Lake Jocassee Etiquette

Hey, when you only have 8 dives in your log just swimming along and looking at silt-covered rocks is FUN! There are a few things that have been sunk at the site: a couple of training platforms, a couple of small boats, a skeletal family, trampoline, and yes -- a forest at about 90ft. It will...

    Lake Jocassee Etiquette

I'm a new diver (along with my 22 year old son and 17 year old daughter). We've been diving twice since certification, both times off the walk-in ramps at Jocassee. The first time, the entire ramp area was absolutely saturated with people, chairs, tents, and equipment. We walked down the boat...

    Hello from South Carolina (USA)!

Just completed the PADI Open Water course with my son and daughter. Diving is something I've always thought would be fun, but it took my daughter wanting to major in Marine Science to finally jump start me into doing it.
