    PADI AOW Requirements/Options

I love online stuff a lot, but for some reason, I kick into old fashioned with 'school' type stuff. You can do it online, but I like having that book in hand a) so I feel like I got something for my money, and b) it's easier to take with you sometimes then a device and the internet.. Plus I...

    Best Diver EVER!!

Sure hitting some other spots is great, if that's what the vacation is based around. It's about a 40 minute dive, plus the before and after backstage time. All the money goes to the disney conservation fund. The interaction with the guests is awesome. It allows you to be part of the show...

Main causes of scuba diving accidents?

OH, I agree totally. I feel much safer diving and having an equipment failure, then driving and having an equipment failure. To people that have never been diving before, or more precisely been TRAINED in diving, that would seem like a foreign concept to them I'm sure.

Main causes of scuba diving accidents?

The title of this thread, not sure if it was made by the OP or a mod though, since it was a moved thread... is "Main causes of scuba diving accidents?" I will answer that for you. The MAIN cause of most scuba accidents, is diver error. I know CamG said that also, but that is the main cause of...

Quarry Diving: 500 Dives in a Quarry - Are You SERIOUS???

Only real problem I have with this statement, is if you are saving to only do ocean diving, how good would your basic skills still be if you only could go diving once a year or whatever time period that it took you to save up for an ocean dive? And again, to drewski, if someone is certified in...

Sherwood SR-1 Free Flows at Cold Water Depth

Well, I've been using my SR-1 for over a year now. I dont do super deep / cold. I've done 60-70' and upper 40's for temp. Havent ever had an issue. Love the way it breathes... Only thing I've had was sometimes I will get a very high pitched 'whistle' that only I can hear when inhaling, but...

Quarry Diving: 500 Dives in a Quarry - Are You SERIOUS???

So your last statement you threw in, I guess you mean then they try to get a job on the coast / ocean? If they are going to instruct / divemaster and they dont live on the coast, arent planning on moving to the coast..... what would you want them to do to become an instructor? I dont know why...

Quarry Diving: 500 Dives in a Quarry - Are You SERIOUS???

Heck, I've seen about that many fish in one of the quarries I dive in. Sure wont see sharks or anything like that. But lots of points have been made. it's where I live, and it's where I KNEW I would do most of my diving if I wanted to dive. I dont mind doing that. From the 20' one that's...

    First dive after completing course?

Well, considering that you got certified to be able to go diving with a buddy, I'd say if you passed the test, if you are both comfortable, you go for it. My OW check out dives were done in a quarry about 25' deep, and after my final dive and we got our c-card, myself and another person in our...

Survey out by East Carolina University

Saw this posted, and didnt know really where to put it. It has to do with getting bigger artificial shipwrecks of the carolina coast, but figured it would be good for all to check out. https://ecu.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_e9EcdViyV5wb7yQ And if this is posted somewhere else already...

    Regulator "whistling"

Yep, I have an SR1 that does the same thing..... sometimes :). It doesnt always do it, but it's annoying as hell underwater, it's loud in my ears, but unless others are listening they say they cant hear it... /shrug. Granted I've only had mine to 65' or so, and low 50's high 40's temps but...

    PADI Rescue Diver

I personally am aiming to get RD certified ASAP. I think it would be one of the best courses to take. I mean along with the basic first aid / emergency first responder part for above water, how to deal with someone panicked in the water just seems like something every diver should know.. At...

PADI Nitrox, Computer vs. table class

While theory and all that jazz should be taught no matter what, I still stick by my reasoning of learning the tables. If you are familiar with them, and your computer goes belly up on a trip, you can still dive. If you've not learned the tables and your computer dies.. what then?
