What's the purpose of your diving?

When we are on charter I shoot video of our guests and sometimes do instruction. When we are off we go bottle diving in the harbor and we belong to The Ocean Consevancy and do reef condition survey dives. I enjoy all the diving I do. I thought I would get tired of diving by now, but NO...

    Does gender make a difference?

I've taught both men and women. Men seem to be more comfortable with me than with my husband; women seem to be more comfortable with him in most cases. We do a lot of resort courses. Kids are the best they don't care one way or the other. They just want to be under water.

    Going to the BVI's

Patty, My husband and I got married on the Flying Cloud (or as we call it here the Frying Crowd). That was 12 years ago. I believe Captain Adrean is still there. Let me know what week you will be here. I have wanted to have an excuse to visit the boat and say Hi to him. He gave me away...

    Going to the BVI's

Hi Have a great time in the BVI! I think Windjammer still uses Blue water divers for rendevous diving. The last few times I've been on the Rhone we were the only boat there, but we tend to pick times when the dive boats aren't there. Friday is the worst day, all the ops from St.Thomas are...

    Tipping

On tipping Dive shop owners I would certainly tip a dive shop owner if they took me on a dive and gave the service that deserves a tip. An owner is more likly to give better service in hopes that you will patronize his organization again. Don't penalize an owner because of his status in an...

When your spouse isn't a diver

To all Divers: Keep taking your spouses with you. To all non-diving spouses: Keep going with them. You never know what other adventure you may stumble upon. Although we are a dive dedicated charter yacht we provide plenty of top side activity for both divers and non-divers; kayaks...

    POLL: PLease classify yourself

I have been an instructor for over ten years and became one because of my love for the sport. Yes, I do own a Dive charter boat. I hope that does not disqualify my opinion on this board, Large diver. I find this board informative, insightful and often amusing. I have met a few members and...

    Useless dive Items

The most useless item underwater is my cell phone. It seems to ring just when I spot that monster lobster. and the sound quality is just atrocious. MP can you help? As for dryer lint what about extra insulation in those hard to reach places.

    Do you believe in Pirates?

Our deepest sympathy goes out to all the friends and family of Sir Blake. As owners of a sailboat in the Caribbean, we are always concerned about Piracy. When we cruise down island we are constantly on watch. There are many pirates out there; from young boys on stolen windsurf boards just...

    migraine

My concern about migrains is that I take imitrex. I understand that imitrex is a vascular constrictor and may cause nitrogen bubbles to accumulate fast in the blood stream. Is this true?

    reasons for being an instructor...

When my husband and I were in our Open Water class. He said wouldn't it be cool to be an instructor? My first thought was No Way! These people have been to school for thousands of years and I could never do it. Our instructor was so good. I still call her my SCUBA Mom. She made it easy to...

    Virgin Islands

The course was designed to teach us how to do survey dives. There are two parts to a survey dive. The first is to find one of the four kinds of coral to be suveyed and measure it's size, if there is any deases, or other damage such a parrot bites and Damsel fish alga farms, also the type and...
