    Becoming a Navy Diver

Every guy on my boat that went to dive school made it a condition of their reenlistment. They all said, "I WILL reenlist if you WILL send me to dive school." Coincidentally, they all went to dive school. I wanted to go, but since I didn't reenlist, well... Anyway, they all went, but they...

    Refresher

Last year my wife and I paid about $35 each at the Occidental Allegro in Cozumel for a refresher course. We got about a half our lecture, a half hour in the pool and our instructor baby sat us on our first dive (to about 60 ft). I'm not sure if every resort has this, but it was well worth it.

Is the Occ. Allegro outdoor stage open yet?

Last year when we were at the Occ Allegro the stage was being worked on. Is it open yet? If so, just how loud are the festivities at night and how long do they last? Also, does anyone know where to find the map of the grounds online? I'd like to request the same room this year, but I can't...

    I need Cozumel help! PLEEEEEZ!

My wife and I have only taken one dive trip and it was to the Occidental Allegro in Cozumel so take that for what it's worth. With that said, we loved it. The southern end of the island is isolated so it was quiet and relaxed. The rooms were very nice...not Waldorf-Astoria nice, but what...

    Dive Palancar Dive Shop?

My wife and I stayed at the Allegro last year and we've made our reservations to stay there again this year. They are IMO a great dive shop. However, my wife and I are inexperienced divers so I could see experienced divers wanting more. That leads me to the purpose of this post. Eventhough...

    How important is exposure protection?

A vast majority of my diving as been done in tropical environments. For that reason, I've always dove in swim trunks. The only time I've worn a wetsuit was when I dove in San Diego. I noticed on my trip to Cozumel that everyone wore a wetsuit or skinsuit. At least one person per dive...

    Hello from New Hampshire

Hi, all. I am a long-time/low-dive-count diver from New Hampshire. I got my PADI OW in Guam while I was in the Navy about 12 years ago. My buds and I dove every day for the few weeks our sub was in Guam. After that I dove once in my homeport of San Diego (around '94). Nothing after that...
