    Trip Report - Iberostar/Dressel

Glad your trip went well. I have not good luck with Dressel in either Coz or Playa. Maybe there were management changes. Regardless, glad it worked out for you.

    Does AeroMexico weigh carry-on bags?

Fly them quite a bit, checked bags yes, carry on, no.

any of y'all been to Jamaica?

Stayed at Iberostar Grand in Montego Bay and dove with Dressel. Overall the reefs were in great shape as very few divers visit the reefs (at least close to the Iberostar).

I only use Abyss. You can find them on Facebook. I've been diving with Dave since 2002.

Playa Del Carmen Dive Operator suggestions...

I use Abyss in Playa and have for years. I would take the ferry over from Playa to Coz. I use Blue Angel in Coz.

    PDC Cenote safe?

I have dove most of them and they are very safe assuming you follow the rules. I dive exclusively with Dave at Abyss and have done so for 12 years. Favorite cenotes (no order): Chac Mol, Tajmaha, Gran Cenote and Dos Ojos. Make sure your buoyancy is good before diving as fresh water is...

    The Royal Playa

They have one but it is next door at the Gran Porto. Very small stand that contains scuba, towels, games, etc. No way I would dive with them; never seem busy other than passing out towels. I use Dave at Abyss, you can find him on Facebook. Great shop, been diving with his crew for over a...

Best dive shop for 2 tank cenote + bull shark dive in one day in PDC?

If you dive Dos Ojos, there are two cenotes in the same spot, which minimizes drive time between cenotes. I have dove most of the popular cenotes in the region and you can't go wrong regardless. Gran cenote, taj mahal and pet cemetery are a few of my favorites. I use Abyss in the region...

AI recommendation in Playa Del Carmen

Just got back from the Royal last week. It was excellent as usual, send me an e-mail if you need details. Dove with Abyss again and had another great experience (will be posting review later). 12 years now going to Playa 2X or 3X a year. Gran Porto is great hotel if you are bringing the kids...

    Cenote temps?

I wear a 3 mil and a hood year round in the cenotes. Never gets too cold. I used to dive with a shorty and a hood and at times, could get chilly. Have fun!

2 Dives in Playa del Carmen, 2 Dives in Cozumel help!

I use Abyss in Playa (Tank Ha is good too) and Blue Angel in Cozumel. DO NOT USE the on-site shop at the Iberostar (Dressel Divers). They are horrible on many levels. Also, the ferry is significantly better than having Tank Ha shuttle you to Playa. While I have never done it a buddy of mine...

Playa del Carmen End of October

Hotels in Playa are plentiful and vary from all-inclusive to boutique to no frills. A hotel may list itself as Playa, however you could be several miles from town. We enjoy staying in town as there are numerous things to do and 5th avenue is really cool at night. Enjoy.

Mexico Blue Dream LDS in Playa Del Carmen

Never heard of Mexico Blue Dreams. I have used Abyss for the better part of 12 years. If they tell you they are going out, they will. Other shops will cancel on you if you are the only diver. Tank Ha and Playa Scuba Dive Center are also good.
