That's sort of like telling someone who has an Indian 4 that has been running great for 70 years that since YOU've never seen anything but twin Indians before, he ought to throw away two of the cylinders. If the damn thing has had 13 washers in it, and worked until now, odds are pretty good it isn't going to be happy with 5.

LOL, I know what you mean Vance, but he might not be too far wrong. I seem to recall that some of the washers were stacked consecutively. I could end up with a few set up as a spring, and the rest as spacers. Oh, the combinations....:eyebrow:
 
Kiwi, suggest you insert 6 pairs plus one per Hacker's explanation of the sequencing which he found in his valve. Insert the extra on either top or bottom using your judgement.
