I see Tropic Air has pm their webiste they will take 70 lbs checked luggage, 2 bags at 35 pounds each.
Plus a carry on you have to carry on your lap.

Does anyone know what happens when your bags are 50 pounds? I can understand an
extra fee charge but what if my bags to make it on the plane with me if everyone
takes so much and we are overloaded? I want my dive gear the same day.

I really do not want to take the boat to Ambergris Caye.

I have never seen tropic weigh bags at the international airport. I usually tip the guy who expedites in front of the Tropic counter 5$. In several cases, he has made my trip over to the gate MUCH less of a hassel. I have also checked more than 2 bags as my carry ons usually get checked on Tropic. They are VER customer service oriented. you should not have a problem at all.

Ditto - We used them last month and my bags were plenty heavy and big and they didn't even seem to notice. It did take a little while for our bags to make it though as they were not on our flight. Two planes later they arrived (about 30 minutes).

My camera kit in it's case is about 50 lbs and I have not been hit with a fee.

Tropic Air is an incredible airline. They are the best at getting you and your luggage where they need to go. While I have never taken 70 pounds of luggage, I have taken one bag that weights of 35 pounds and not been questioned. A side note, when you take your Tropic Air flight back to Belize City, they may actually send your bags on an earlier flight if you get there early. Don't worry about it! It will be in Belize City when you get there.
