I recently found the Diver's Parodies Cont. posts and decided to try and write my own parody. If you haven't seen those posts yet you need to go there. The parodies are hilarious.

Anyway, I finally wrote my first parody to Lukenbach Texas and wanted to challenge the seasoned parody writers (like NetDoc, Scubadweeb, Liquid, Ontario Diver, Texas Mike, dc4bs, JamesK, JKPhil, GregC, etc.) and anyone else who cares to give it a try, to write their own versions of Lukenbach Texas.

What I would like to do is have whoever takes me up on this challenge to PM (private message) me your version and then I will post them all, but won't say who wrote which parody, but give each one a number and have a vote on who's is best.

Anyone up to the challenge???

Lukenback, Texas by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson

The only two things in life that make it worth livin'
Is guitars tuned good 'n' firm-feelin' women
I don't need my name in the marquee lights
I got my songs and I got you with me tonight
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love

Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas
with Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin'
got us feudin' like the Hatfields and McCoys
Between Hank Williams' pain songs and Newbury's train songs
And blue eyes cryin' in the rain
Out in Luckenbach, Texas ain't nobody feelin' no pain

So baby let's sell your diamond ring
Buy some boots and faded jeans and go away
This coat and tie is chokin' me
In your high society you cry all day
We've been so busy keepin' up with the Jones
Four-car garage and we're still buildin' on
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love

Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas
with Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin'
got us feudin' like the Hatfields and McCoys
Between Hank Williams' pain songs and Newbury's train songs
And blue eyes cryin' in the rain
Out in Luckenbach, Texas ain't nobody feelin' no pain

I'm looking for a site that you can listen to the song on. I'll post it if I find it.

Alas. I have never heard the song or the singers. Probobly couse I'm not from america. So I'll sinn their song if I try to molest it without proper preparations.

Hmmm. That one looks challenging. I will see if I have time to work on that today. Hopefully I can come up with one.

That's too bad Liquid, I would have loved to see what you would have come up with. I tried to find a website that had the song on it, but I haven't been able to.

This is an old country song so I'm afraid a lot of people won't know it. I guess I should have taken that into consideration before using it, but it took me forever to write one song that I didn't dare choose another one! LOL

too bad the whole song isn't there! I have the MP3 file if anyone is interested I could try and email it to you. Just send me a PM.

First try at this so apologies in advance if it sucks!

Edited & Pm'd

Great original song by the way!
