First, let me say I am happy it all worked out for you. I have seen 2 other people getting bent after dives well within NDL's. I am not sure why that happened, and I am equally unsure what benefit may be gained from what I do but here it is. I do a safety stop for about 2 minutes at 1/2 of the max depth reached during the dive. I follow that with a regular stop at 15 feet for 3 minutes. Again, I have heard mixed opinions about this strategy and its benefits, however, since I never heard that it may hurt, I use it. I got so used to diving like that, that now it is almost an instinct. You may want to do some research into it and possibly incorporate into your profiles. Good Luck, dive safe.
