Wow, fabulous. Thank you for doing all that research. Definitely above and beyond.

We were at Avalon/Casino Point once before and used Scuba Luv IIRC. If their stuff is decent we'll probably just rent from them. Might wind up renting just the wetsuit for the duration of the trip.

Thanks muchly.

My pleasure. It sounds like if you're going to be in Catalina then might as well use Scuba Luv for both rental and boat dive. Don't have to rent anything and tote them all over the place.

If we do a boat dive it'll likely be out of Ventura. If we go to Catalina it will be to do a shore dive. We're going to be lugging wetsuits, BP/W, etc. anyway, so the addition of a few regs is not a big deal either way.

Well, if that's the case then might as well go to Hollywood Divers for the regs since that they are renting the more high end types. You'll find that Hollywood Divers is a very cool joint. Very easy going, friendly people. Amazingly enough, they don't act hoity toity like you would think because of the "Hollywood" aspect. Another cool thing is that Vivid Entertainment headquarters is like half a block away, so don't be surprised if you might see a few porn starlettes browsing the store.:eyebrow: The missus might not appreciate it, but hey, it ain't YOUR fault that the porn starlettes may be there.

I've been to hollywood divers probably about 100 times and have never seen "porn starlettes browsing the store." If you're trying to promote Hollywood Divers I don't think writing that is the correct way to do it and probably wouldn't make them too happy.

I love Hollywood Divers but rental gear is rental gear anywhere you go. Gsk3, best of luck, I think one of the closest shops to Sunland is West Coast Divers.

I use Hollywood Divers as my LDS and agree they are great. But also in my 100+ visits I've never once seen a porn starlette in the store or for that matter on the block. But fnfalman is correct, Vivid is at the end of the block. After years of going to HD it wasn't until last week when I had my wife with me that she explained to me what business Vivid was in. I never knew, not sure why my wife knows.

Promoting Hollywood Divers? Why? I don't work there and they aren't my LDS. And it ain't their fault that Vivid Entertainment is just half a block away and the adult entertainers stop by their shops. Heaven forbids that porn stars are divers too.:shakehead: Or some humors in diving:shakehead:

It's ok. The last (and first) time we went to Catalina, Girls Next Door was filming. If you see a grumpy couple on the steps very intolerant of the pink wetsuit-clad Bunnies taking their sweet time to get in the water, that's us....

If you are going to Catalina via Catalina Express, I would rent the tank from Catalina Divers Supply vs lugging it on the boat etc... Only disadvantage is I think they only rent steel 77's so if your working on your bouyancy that may be an issue. Other than that almost any dive shop in the LA area does a good job. I would recommend Pacific Wilderness in San Pedro but they are to far from Sunland.
