Natasha once bubbled...
I have also dove the Bahamas. No way can you compare Bonaire to the Bahamas. This offends me.

Let me guess, Nassua, right? so you know the Bahamas? This offends me.

It's a whole lot like saying you've seen the US by going to Manhattan.

Let's compare the Bahamas Family Islands (Andros for example) to what I know of Bonaire...

Bonaire- rampant crime, unfriendly locals, businesses cheat you
Bahamas- low crime rate, friendly locals, honest merchants

Bonaire- shallow reefs
Bahamas- shallow reefs, deep reefs, wrecks, 6000' vertical wall

Bonaire- locals ate all the fish
Bahamas- numerous large fish (grouper, shark, etc)

Bonaire- weird Dutch currancy
Bahamas- local currancy in dollars/cents, on par with US dollar

Bonaire- far away, expensive airfare, passport requirements
Bahamas- 30 minutes from Ft. Lauderdale, no passports requirements

Gee, where do I want to go?

That is one helluva detailed trip report! You just helped us finalize our travel plans~ Thanks!!

Hey! Welcome back. I was wondering where the heck you were... Glad you enjoyed your trip.

My wife and I are supposed to stay at Capt Don's the last week of February. How did they react to your theft? And would you stay there again? I think I can still change hotels, since all I've paid for are the airline tickets.

Thanks

Yikes!

And to think I was jealous when I read the thread where you planned this trip... (but really, who got to dive and who stayed home in the cold midwest winter - guess you're still better off than me)

Take Bonaire right off of my "to-do" list. If I got robbed in any way, it would leave a really bad taste in my mouth. I've been put off other places, such as Montego Bay Jamaica and the more touristy spots in Mexico, just because so many salespeople pester you. I can't imagine how put off I'd be if somebody actually robbed me.

Fuggetaboudit.

Maybe if you bug Sillygrendel he will post some of him..

These were all taken at Ol Blue..

Look at that trim. :)

Nice shot.

Some of the sites had cool white sand bottoms that led out to the reef...
