yes it is a bone. There is a ledge just below the entrance to Pothole with a variety of bones on it. Presumably from animals who fell in....

That was a deer that fell into the sink a couple years ago. Its actually pretty cool when something like an armadillo falls in,it looks like a crayfish convention.
