Have been diving up a storm the past week since conditions at Casino Point have been absolutely spectacular. Vis has ranged from 60 to 80 feet although it deteriorates a little towards late afternoon. Even with OW classes at the park last weekend there was still fantastic vis. Was able to see a bat ray at 60 ft clearly from the surface. Likewise with a giant sea bass swimming about 50 feet below me (I couldn't descend fast enough to get it on camera though). You can see all three mid-park wrecks at one time. Great conditions for filming overviews of the park.

Oops, what am I doing? Now everyone is going to head out here. I forgot to mention strong currents and surge!

I already got my two Casino Point visits in for this year, so I'm good until maybe November, December time and take another run out thataway.

I'm headed to Monterey this weekend or I'd be there for sure!

I hope conditions hold until the end of September!

Since my trip to Monterey got squashed, I'll be there Friday as well.

Yes it was awesome :luxhello: when my BF & I were there! (just got home; we were the ones in the hats :japanese:). And we were really excited to meet you!

He got video of the giant sea bass he's sending your way. You can see the hurt one who also had a hook (you can see the line trailing) in one of it's fins. :crying2: And we saw that ray above us too! :D

Headed over there Friday just for the day.

We did that last week with friends visiting us who normally dive the Red Sea, and were treated to absolutely fantastic conditions, giant black sea bass encounters, and a great time with Dr Bill. Our friends, who had never dived in cold water, were blown away and said it was world class diving (and didn't even try to compare it to the Red Sea). Fortunately for them, the water was warm enough (in rented 7mm suits and hooded vests) that they didn't freeze and went out with us on Sunday to Santa Barbara Island aboard the Peace (also spectacular diving).

DrBill you are making my mouth water...my eyes water.. making me really look forward to the trip planned for 9/15. I am taking advantage of the free birthday ride on the Catalina Express and cannot wait. I too hope conditions hold but for this Sat 9/1. Till then I will be happy with 15 foot viz Laguna.
