My very first cert. agency was PADI when I did my discover scuba course if you want to count that! I was cerified open water through NASDS, this was before they merged with SSI which is who I did my advanced open water through!

(Not much choice in Thailand)

I have certifications from
PADI
TDI
IANTD
SDI
and I have one that you don't have up there

Dive Rescue International
That is a training agenct for Public Safety Divers
Sheriffs, Fire Departments, Etc

I got two to tick.

You missed the SAA of your poll (hardly surprising really)
But I started with the Sub Aqua Association but after taking a PADI course crossed over.

I'm certified with PDIC, yeap, the 1 percent....
hey, I had to do the bail out three times in class.

My PADI Open Water Course was thorough and demanding--a great start! I also found the PADI DM to be an excellent course (same instructor as my OW). Based on the courses I have taken and what I know about the certification requirements, I don't think any of the agencies are significantly different or better than the rest.

No PADI stuff yet but who knows, I have always been fond of their night time fog diver specialty.

If an instructor comes along that I respect and has a course I want to take then that's what I take.

Looking at a Tri Mix course later this year, if time permits.
