To quote the late Harry Caray: HOLY COW!!!

When we tell you we appreciate donations of all amounts, we’ve gotta admit that we REALLY appreciate the very large ones. And so far this year, this is the one we’ve been able to “appreciate” the most.

We want to thank our friends at the Ocean Institute (through one of their major donor/benefactors) for a fabulously generous donation to the Challenge of $12,000 which not only pushes us past $30,000 but past $35,000 as well. The mission of the Ocean Institute is to teach ocean science and marine awareness to student K-12 and their teachers and while they don’t specifically focus on diving, there’s obviously an overlap to what we do with our Chamber as well. Plus, again through their silent benefactor, students from the ocean Institute will join us at two tables for Chamber Evening.

Now we certainly don’t expect ALL of you to come up with $12,000 (although we wouldn’t mind it if someone wants to top them). The $100, $500, and $1000 donations keep us going. But it’s quite comforting when a large donation comes in and really helps us leap forward.

We’re getting down to the wire. This is NOT the time to rest on our (or your laurels). We’ve still got a ways to go. Next benchmark is $40,000. So who’s willing to step up and push us in that direction? Who’s next???
