We are just a shade over a month away from Chamber Day/Eve 2021 on Wednesday, May 5. We’re making great progress on the Challenge, and doing OK in others areas but could be doing better is some as well.

Maybe the biggest challenge (no pun intended) right now is making sure everyone understands about the Chamber Day boats. These are real boats, but since we still are not allowed by USC to bring anyone onto the Chamber property, they’re fake dives because – like the Flying Dutchman – you’re not really going to be going anywhere.

But our hope was that this would sort of turn into a vote-of-appreciation for the boats that have agreed to let us use their name in this manner. They absolutely support our Chamber and they’d really rather be able to take your there on May 5. And our thought was that if there’s a boat your normally dive, you’d give some thought to “singing up” for that instead of doing the Dutchman as a way of thanking the boats for their continued support.

And to that end, you’ll get a special Chamber Day 2021 t-shirt that not only has our logo on the front, but will have the name of each boat and the divers who “dove” it (that would be you) on the back. In case you haven’t seen the shirt, here’s a mock-up of what it will look like:

But whatever floats your boat (pun fully intended), we hope you’ll pitch in and support our Chamber. We have the added burden this year of not only raising funds as we do each year, but also replacing funds lost because we haven’t been able to teach classes or do training sessions for groups during this past year. So every dollar donated, no matter how you do it, really helps.

While it may seem like there’s plenty of time to go, we always feel like there’s no time to spare. Better put, maybe there’s no time like the present. To make donation, signup for portions of the event and get t-shirts, just click on this direct link to our sign-up page: https://usc.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_dp3rzL7cVCFp1rM
