I have not dove it but friends have. The hot hole is a warmer dive in winter, but unless you are in a drysuit, the surface interval between dives can be a real bear id the weather is cold. This is in the very upper part of SC neaqr the NC line. Bill's Off the Wall site has info on conditions (though not always current).
 
Hot Hole is fun, although I don't think my buddy and I hit the underwater current to do the drift dive. We were mostly looking for fish and found a lot of them. Water is great - even in winter - if you can survive the surface interval. Try to go on a weekend when the weather is not terrible.
