Thinking of heading to Cozumel and was wondering if anyone who has been there this year can give me a review of the current conditions.

Thanks

Do a search...you will come up with about a thousand posts as it is a very popular place to dive. We were there in May and it was awesome!

We were also there in May. The coral formations were not as beautiful as I remembered from previous visits, but we saw lots of fish, turtles, and other critters on the reef.

I am headed to Cozumel tomorrow morning but I was also there last Feb after the hurricane. Then there was quite alot of sand on the reefs and the DM told us that alot of the different critters and fish had moved to new locations. They would notice the things that we would never notice because they dive there every day. I also noticed that some of the sponges were damaged...but all in all...Cozumel is the best diving ever!!! Have fun and safe diving!

I was just there a couple weeks ago... had a blast, diving was great, i've never seen so many turtles. I was told that most of the shallower sites took a beating, but i thought paradise beach and columbia shallows looked incredible... the soft corals were bright and healthy, especially at columbia shallows.

I heard some of the more northern dive sites are in pretty bad shape, but we never got up there. Did a lot of the palancar sites, columbia, tormentos, paradise, punta sur, tunich, san francisco, cedral, and some diving across the way at playa del carmen... definitely worth it.
