If he knows what is good for him he will meet me in Atlanta as planned!! I do not think I will have much trouble getting him from Port Gibson Mississippi to Cozumel in August! I can't wait to see you and introduce Jed to Robert . It is our birthday month so a big celebration is in order. Sunset cruise, Kinta....???

Hi guys, new to the board but I have been lurking here for a year or so! Wife and I plan on heading down to Coz in August as well, was concerned about the weather but you experienced people dont seem worried at all, was contemplating Bonaire to avoid hurricane season. Anyone concerned about the oil in gulf reaching that far south? We were in Coz in January, stayed at the Wyndam, wouldn't do that again. Thinking Hotel Coz. Wife is a non diver, so I need to stay at a Resort with amenities (spa) and such to keep her happy while i am making bubbles. Also prefer somewhere with a nice big beach, as so many of them were wiped out with the hurricane. Any tips are appreciated. Dove a couple different ops in January, and I truly prefer small boats, semi private ops. Thanks guys, hope to meet some of you!

Hi guys, new to the board but I have been lurking here for a year or so!

Howdy! This is really the wrong thread to ask as your questions won't get as much attention here as in a new thread on this Cozumel forum. Let me offer some of my notes on this, encourage you to read and search, and develop questions that can be answered with specific answers...

Wife and I plan on heading down to Coz in August as well, was concerned about the weather but you experienced people dont seem worried at all, was contemplating Bonaire to avoid hurricane season. Some of us aren't. It's possible and I had to retreat a few years ago after ignoring advanced warnings from the NHC and going anyway, but very rare. I do have excellent trip insurance and will be checking WeatherUnderground.com every day, but not worried.

Anyone concerned about the oil in gulf reaching that far south? Nope. It'd have to go to England and back first. General currents are from Africa west to Central America, then north by Cozumel to the Gulf of Mexico, then east by the spill toward the Florida Strait with Cuba, then north towards New England as the Gulf Stream, then east to the North Sea. Hoping the oil does not significantly make it far.

We were in Coz in January, stayed at the Wyndam, wouldn't do that again. Thinking Hotel Coz. Wife is a non diver, so I need to stay at a Resort with amenities (spa) and such to keep her happy while i am making bubbles. Can't help you personally; not my style.

Also prefer somewhere with a nice big beach, as so many of them were wiped out with the hurricane. Where did you hear that? The resorts and clubs with real beaches are in the southern zone, not even hit hard by any hurricanes of recent years, and any damages were quickly repaired.

Any tips are appreciated. Dove a couple different ops in January, and I truly prefer small boats, semi private ops. Most operators with 8-pack boats will be glad to pick you up in the southern zone with prior arrangements.

Hello All! Long time lurker, for the last couple of years at least and thought I'd finally jump in on a thread! The hubby and I will be making our second trip to Cozumel August 1-8 and staying at Hotel Cozumel and diving with Dive Paradise this time around.
