Here is an update for the Turtle Conservation Program......
[h=5]SEARCH AND RESCUE BEGINS In Cozumel ° VIVA LAS TORTUGAS
IMPORTANT SEASON UPDATE. The Cozumel Turtle trailer will be open for ORIENTATION OF SEARCH AND RESCUE beginning Friday Aug 9 daily at 3 pm to approx. 4 pm.
This is a mandatory orientation to participate in the Search and Rescue of the hatching babies.... over 4000 nests with a $25 donation per person.
Immediately after Orientation you will do the Search and Rescue which entails DIGGING back into a nest along the shoreline identified by the volunteers. Transportation is not provided.... The nests we are digging into would have released less than 3 days before and we are going to find just the ONE or more that would not have made it out of the nest without your help. After gathering the rescued turtles you will be releasing them with a ´natural´ nest around sunset.. Libertard.... Freedom to our Cozumel waters only one estimated to return later in the years......
You will be along side the local volunteers in this seasonal effort that continues to mid Nov. Once in a lifetime experience and a must repeat. The trailer is located at San Martin Beach across from a restaurant called ANDALE which is on the opposite side of the road than the San Martin Beach and located middle way between Rastas and Chen Rio.[/h]
