I've read the Fundamentals book, but I didn't see the part about deflators. Could somebody please refer me to a source on this? I haven't taken DIR-F yet, but am slowly converting my equipment as I upgrade and replace items. I'm currently diving a DR Transplate (steel) and Venture wing. (Yes, I know that the quick releases on the straps aren't DIR - I'll convert to the single piece web if/when the time comes.)

Thanks in advance,
Grier

[HIJACK]Grier, do you refer to elbows (etc.) on the corregated hose, or overpressure valves located on the lower left surface of the wing? I'm unclear as to what you're unclear about :D [/HIJACK]

Do yourself a favor and convert before the time comes. I dived a TransPlate harness for over a year before taking DIR-F, and made the mistake of putting my single-piece harness together the night before class started. They feel, and dive, rather different ... and it definitely impacted my performance during the class.

Give yourself a few dives on the rig you plan to use in class before taking the class ... you'll thank yourself for it later.

The elbow was easy to replace on my DiveRite Venture wing following the instructions here: http://www.diveriteexpress.com/library/elbows.shtml

and the following link was sent to me by BoomX5 for modifying the rear dump valve string (beyond just cutting the ball off) so it was a little thicker to grab hold of: http://dir-diver.com/en/equipment/dumpvalve_mod.html

If you are going to replace the elbow - you might as well get the shorter 12" corrugated hose as well - it's a lot more convenient IMHO: http://www.diveriteexpress.com/bcs/aircells.shtml
