Hello everyone,

me and my partner are both certified divers and we are staying in Coron for 5 days and we heard that the apo reef is worth seeing.

Is it possible to get from Coron to Apo Reef and back in one day? Are daytrips offered from coron?
If yes, which operator would you recommend?

Thank you very much in advance!

It is quite a distance from Coron.
Your best bet is Dugone Dive Center in Northern Coron.
There are more than enough interesting wrecks in Coron to satisfy any divers within 5 days.

Agree - stay in Coron. Apo reef is nice but not worth losing an entire dive day in Coron to see IMHO. I did it as a day stop on a liveaboard between Caron and Anilo and while nice was not spectacular, just a nice reef dive. They do say you can see Manta sometimes. We did not.

i thought apo reef is a bit overated but ill say im not a great reef fan not to start with - the park fee is a rip off too

Thank you very much for all your honest and very helpful answers. I think that we will skip Apo Reef then.

Regarding the skip wreck diving, is it worth it? We read that the visibility is supposed to be very bad which could make the experience not so nice. We read that there is a skip wreck in the north (KYOKUZAN MARU) with a better visibility.

Would you recommend doing a wreck dive and if so, which one are your favorites?

Thank you!

From my own experiences, the vis was never an great issue as long as you are NOT looking for crystal blue clear water.
There are several interesting wrecks in Coron.
Kyokuzan Marau is indeed very nice but it is on the north of the island so getting there is NOT easy.
I can easily spend a week or more diving all those wrecks. And some of those are pretty deep 30 - 40m so multidive per day is probably not an option.

Wrecks there are a great experience, visibility varies. if you are experienced divers, the vis is not an issue. For a shorter ride time to the grounds, you may consider Busuanga Bay, an easy ride from Coron
