Looks like it's going to be high, best to stay in the Cove I think......

Checkout Scripps Pier Cam for La Jolla Shores surf conditions.

Proposed Dive Site (This can be changed, please add comments)
La Jolla Cove - Rock Pile or Boomers. Lots of structure, underwater life, shallow dive, no more than 40ft. Enter at Alligator Head or the Cove itself. It will be close to high tide, so no problems doing either. Let's plan to meet around 9:00am, don't want to get up too early during the holidays.

We can all park at the Cove. They have showers there too. Let me know if we should change time/location. We have my neighbors wife Nicole in this dive (recently certified), so we need to chill it a bit, no extreme stuff. Let me know if anyone has other preferences, time/location etc.

Count me in. I need a dive. It’s been busy the last few weeks and not much time left for diving. :06:

See you there George.........

Did anyone dive La Jolla this weekend? I'm curious what the surf conditions were.

Looks like it may be ok. Last week they predicted "end of the world" swells and there was nothing more than the usual. I don't believe those swell models anymore. People are cancelling dives because of the swell prediction, and I won't do that again. The cove is a little protected from big swells, so it should be fine.

So, it's just us 4, see you guys there........

I dont think ill be there it is gonna be christmas so its a definite no go, but I am going night diving 2night for food and I heard that the vis is 15 plus!

I'd love to go, but since it's Christmas I can't do it! I hope to be diving the 26th if that is possible. I need just 3 more dives for 200!!!! I have been diving the shores a lot and have seen some massive waves breaking on boomers and comming right into the cove. Those North Swells go right into the cove, but the Shores is protected from them by Del Mar somewhat. Anyway I looked at the livecam and the conditions looked almost glassy this afternoon. The forcast calls for 3-9 feet, but as you said perhaps it's not correct.

I hope you all have a great dive!

Of course there is also the 300 gallons of raw sewage that poured into the cove this afternoon to consider.

when the surfs big here instead of battling horrible conditions at the cove or anywhere else try just south of vallecitos. cant go wrong there and theres plenty there to see including the little cave at 90 ft... and so on. sometimes the cove just isnt worth it!
