Instead of using a grommet, I punched a slightly smaller hole and melted the "inside" of the hole with a lighter. Don't go too crazy. While the melted webbing material was still hot and soft, I flattened it using a metal ruler. Anything flat will do. No fraying, and easier to fit a bolt for an STA or wing.
 
So what types of webbing do people find works well? Polypropylene? Seat Belt?
Does it matter if it's too soft?

I was just introduced to the world of different coloured webbing on another thread and am thinking of re-doing my harness just for fun factor.
 
. I was somewhat bemused to discover that harnesses in South Africa retail in the US$200 range.
If I was to buy high-quality scuba webbing, good solid d-rings with retainers and the appropriate buckle it would cost me about US$80. Is there some kind of catch that I am missing to simply assemble it myself and thread it to a BP? ?
