Earliest dive with a 7mm suit (in Mass)

My rule of thumb is: I do not dive when air is colder than the water. My first dive of the year is usually in April in Rhode Island or south side of Cape Cod. North of Cape Cod I begin diving every May.

And yes, you are not likely to find lobsters on a shore dive until May or June.
 
I dive year round with a 7mm Bare semi-dry. I agree with the good gloves and booties advice (I have an attached hood). I haven't tried the duct tape trick but I keep a thermos of warm water to pour into the mitts and boots before my second dive. The only risk is scalding my hands if the water's too hot.
