~ Operation Volunteer "Extraction Action Weekend" May 23rd & 24th ~
On the weekend of May 23rd & 24th, we will be conducting a large ship board operation on the Annapolis. We will be organizing a major extraction of all metals stock piled as well as debris that so many of our volunteers have collected and removed dismantled sorted, sliced, stacked, stripped, bagged, etc.. Volunteers from all over British Columbia as well as our American friends have kept this massive endeavour on track and we thank all of you who have contributed countless volunteer hours which now brings us to this point of the project reclamation stage.

This phase of the Annapolis Project brings us one step closer to its final voyage into the emerald waters of Howe Sound, where it will function as new home for aquatic life to grow and thrive upon for generations to come. In the mean time the tasks over the next few weeks will be to continue to prep the recyclable metal for extraction, staging and harvesting until the actual week of extraction.

Arrangements for the barge and trucks are being completed. The trucks will be transported by barge on Friday May 22 and we will be loading for two days solid May 23rd and 24th. The task will require at least 20 persons each day As we will have so many volunteers, we strongly suggest carpooling and need to remind that we are not able to park at Sewell's by the Lookout Building. Special Thanks to the Sea Dragon and the Adventure II for providing boat transportation to and from the ship on both days. There are several lots including the BC ferries lot as well as the lot near the Boat House.

Volunteers are asked to commit to one day or two, so long as we have 20 persons each day. We will host a BBQ both days on the flight deck weather permitting, otherwise, we will set up insideone of the most unique features of any ship sunk to date The Helicopter Hangar!!

Volunteers need to still bring tools in case they are needed, but for the most part it will be fire brigade work. Those who sign up that weekend will receive an Annapolis brass engine room bolt with shipÃÔ crest and an Annapolis lapel pin. It is important that everyone brings gloves, eye ware, good shoes and sunscreen.

Bring your camera and recruit some friends, for a great day of action aboard our newest future artificial reef Annapolis!

If you are interested in participating please email dmccracken@artificialreef.bc.ca or sign up through your local Dive Centre!

We look forward to seeing you out there!~
