A few of us were discussing how local NE divers have to go to a variety of sites to find dive conditions... so I thought I'd see if anyone else has thoughts on this and perhaps create a good links resource page.
Basically, it would be great to have a single site that consolidated these:
1. sunrise/sunset
2. tides
3. water and air temp
4. wind direction and speed
5. swell height and periods
6. general weather forecast
7. vis (given, this would have to be subjective)
What would be really cool is something that allowed divers to post conditions as well -- surfers have these
Here are the sites I tend to use for conditions:
Winds & swell height:
NOAA: http://weather.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/fmtbltn.pl?file=forecasts/marine/coastal/an/anz250.txt
Vis, tides, water temp, and just fun stuff:
NAS Weather Dude: http://www.northatlanticscuba.com/weather.shtml
Direction, speed, period:
NOAA Buoy data: http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=44029
Tide charts (for month and by location)
Maineharbors.com: http://www.maineharbors.com/ma/tidemans.htm
Includes sunrise/set: http://www.myforecast.com/bin/tide.m?city=19390&zip_code=01740&metric=false&tideLocationID=T0841
Some sites for local dive site locations I've found to be useful:
MIT's Scuba Club: http://web.mit.edu/scuba-club/www/Cape_Ann_Sites.html
PG Dive's: http://www.pgdive.com/LEDiveSiteDirections.htm (may point to someone else's)
Individual's site: http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/7205/dive_capeann.html
Scuba New England: http://www.scuba-newengland.com/DiveSiteList.asp?StateID=MA
Shorediving.com: http://www.shorediving.com/Earth/USA_East/Massachusetts/ (Great step by step directions and reviews)
Metrowest Dive Club: http://www.mwdc.org/ShoreSites.html (Mostly text)
Any others that we could add?
