Someone must be watching Miami Vice re-runs.This thing sounds a bit sketchy to me. If it happened it sounds like some wanna be drug dealers. I can't picture any savvy dopers hiring a diver for this kind of recovery. Maybe a couple of frat boys....

As a cop who has kicked his share of doors and seen the pretty futile attemps of folks trying to flush dope, I have found marijuana to be very bouyant. It takes a whole lot of flushes to get it to go down the drain. I have seen my share of dope tossed overboard as well. It floats really well. Dope packaged in plastic bags, vacum wrapped or wrapped up in tape, etc. is hard to sink. I would say any marijuana going overboard that is of any substantial amount would bob like a cork. Even with a couple of guns tossed in I would think the bag would still float unless the bag just had a small bit of chump dope in it for personal use.

But maybe with the nickels, dimes and quarters inside the drug dealer's piggy bank could make it sink pretty good.

Yeah, I would suspect someone might be getting a visit by the fuzz, maybe even given a grand jury subpoena. that would be best as you could get immunity that way. Or worst case scenario is that this really happened and that they are realy bad guys and that you could get wacked for running your mouth on the internet.

Reminds me of the old saying Hells Angels have, "Two can keep a secret, if one of them is dead."

Good luck, let us know how this shakes out.

If these guys are serious about tying up loose ends, everyone who reads this forum is going to be swimming with the fishes at some point. Of course, if the OP is simply FOS, everyone who reads this forum is going to be swimming with the fishes at some point too...

I would say that this story is bull****!!!!!!!!! you have under 200 dives, and the water is low vis and is 100' deep, and you found it on the second dive. No F & N way dude. This is out in a lake? What did the drug lords hit MOB on their GPS . I have done many many dives in no vis in 25' of water when the object was lost off a dock or shore, it an't that easy.
Second you find guns and maybe drugs and you tell everyone online, well I can tell you that you will be getting a knock at your door very soon, I would be working on the real story now.

Yeah, I think it is a troll also and am calling BS on it. If he was in VA I would love to lay a subpoena on him just to watch him squirm before a multi-jurisdictional grand jury. It would be a waste of everybody's time but would be entertaining. Especially if he perjured himself...

First, the OP was told it was a bag of keys, not drugs. Second, the low viz prevented him from determining that the recovered keys were actually drugs and guns. Third, at this point, he was realizing he was in the company of potentially dangerous crimminals and Fourth, the good outcome was they gave him some money hoping to buy his silence rather than shooting him and leaving him on the bottom of the lake were the bag of keys had been. And Five, I don't think he should have done anything but take the money, get away from them and then call the cops. If the cops want the money he was paid--for a job---he thought was legit--then let them have it so they can go buy beer. What did you expect him to do, refuse the money and tell them he was going to call the cops---what world y'all live in? Maybe he could have asked to borrow their cell phone to make the call.

Geeez, and yes, I have been hired while I was in school for various recovery jobs, on occasion my radar would go off and I would turn them down, however, not all criminals come with a easy ID stamp on their forehead and can have completely legit sounding reasons why they need a diver.

I mean it's not like the people who work for the FBI, the DEA, or any of a zillion other law enforcement agencies ever dive for pleasure.

Absolutely no-one from any law enforcement agency would ever join these kinds of forums in their leisure time and just happen to read this thread, right?

Besides, even if one of them did you're insulated from harm because those agencies cannot just get your info from scubaboard for the purposes of conducting any kind of an investigation, right?

Nahhhh ... you're safe. Post away.

While it may not have been the smartest move to post this in the first place, I sleep well at night knowing that everything on the internet is true.....Right? These agencies that you mention are not going to worry about some guy that found $50 and a small bag of dope. Not when it is actually going to require a fair bit of effort to get through. The guns are concerning, yes, but with so much bull**** on the internet, they need to evaluate and see just how credible it is. I mean let's be real.....this guy is not on here trying to peddle child pornography and he is not trying to sell us dope or guns online. This post will probably draw more attention from them than his original post.

I got a call form some guys at the lake friday night needing someone to dive for a bag they recently "lost" over the side of the boat... After a couple dive around 100' on sat. (yesterday), I find a rather large bag.. It was full of M*&*J, a couple pistols and cash.. :shocked2: . Not to say I did'nt get paid good... then I got outta there.. Has anyone else ever found themselves in a suituation like that???

Once. But I kept my mouth shut and didn't post about it on the internet.

The guys did kinda look like that... lol.. except one of them had only 1 leg.
