Getting to Kawaihae Harbor from Kona airport

Anyone know a good way to get from the airport to Kawaihae Harbor? My wife will be picking her car from Young Bros up there and we are trying to avoid a hideous cab fare or me flying over just to rent a car and shuttle her around. I was not planning on flying over until a week later.

Sorry to say her best bet is to probably just grab a cab. The only public transportation to Kawaihae is the Hele On bus which is going to take a really roundabout route through Waikoloa Village and Waimea before heading down to the harbor. However, if you want to give them a shot you can check out:

Found a shuttle service that runs up there:

Not cheap, but will pick you up when you need it. Important to us, as wife has to get the car and be back to meet the movers fairly early.

In a couple weeks, but it looks like we got it covered. Friends in Kona can do the pickup and drive to the harbor.

Good, 'cause it's an hour and change from my place to the airport, but I tend to be in Kona on Mon, Wed and Fri.
