Here's one of my first GoPro videos from a shark dive we did in Yap, FSM. I think I counted 16 Grey reef and blacktip sharks swimming in the surge with us, lots of fun! Had the GoPro mounted on a 3-6' extendable painter's pole which has obviously been modified to mount the GoPro on the end. Worked out very well! Using the SRP lens and red filter.

Can't figure out why it won't embed, so here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joGK_nmwWFE

Cool, thanks! Don't know what I did wrong. I used the YT tags and just copied the embed from youtube, oh well. I appreciate it!

on the reply bar there is a little video thing that says insert video... looks like a film reel type of thing. You just insert the url in there and that's it.

I really like this and I would love to do it. But....ah...is it safe? Well nothing is completely safe, but what do others think?

I have no experience with this, that's why I am asking.

^ What he said, Bill.

I never felt threatened on this dive, nor on any others. Keep in mind the sharks were at least 6' away since I had the camera on a long pole, and they wouldn't really get any closer than that. They are definitely not interested in us. I was afraid of sharks as a kid (thanks Jaws) but since I've been diving have gone from being skittish about them to loving them. They are so graceful and amazing to watch swimming about, I am so happy to be able to strap on the scuba gear and experience their world!

I love your video you got some pretty cool shots in some very nice conditions there.

I agree entirely re shark diving, dont feed them and dont pi#$ them off and they wont bother you. More often then not they are more scared of us then we are of them, as its quite rare for a solo shark (especially black tips) to approach a diver and they normally only build up enough courage to get a good look at us when they have the numbers advantage. I have seen plenty of black tips in asia but have never got this close to any of them.

I have been chasing them around with GoPro's on trays for a while but unfortunately my conditions weren't as great as these dives were with lower vis and poor light most of the time.

Here is one of my most recent shark dives with grey nurse sharks in Australia.

Here is an older one with a headband mount in wide fov so it will give you an idea of how close they get :)

Sharks are beautiful creatures. I have been around plenty (reef and sand tigers) and have never felt threatened. If a great white comes around, though, I will be out of the water.

Here is a video of mine from the Bahamas. I think that here are live aboards that visit the area and feed them so they are just looking for a handout.
