Those who want to swim with a great white, there is one supposedly swimming around Santa Barbara Island. Great way to spend the 4th of July weekend.

And this is a surprise? There is food there in the form of tasty sea lions. Of course there are great whites swimming around all the Channel Islands, not to mention the mainland coast, during the right time of year.

That is also on par with saying there was a mountain lion sighting. They are there we just rarely see them.

I believe there is either one or two hanging around Ship Rock at approximately 200-ft. Or at least that's what some of the deep divers have claimed to see.

i'm supposed to dive the channel islands this weekend on the Spectre, any info or precautions anyone can recommend or suggest? other than don't wear my sealion shaped wetsuit?

Heman,

Recommendation 1. Swim faster than the guy next to you. 2. If you are lucky enough to see one take a picture! Its a very rare experience.

If you are on Spectre, Ted will take of you.

If your worried about seeing a Great White off Anacapa, don't worry. You have a better chance winning the Lotto..... I'd be more afraid of Drunk boaters this weekend than GWS

If someone sees one, can ya ask him to head over to Santa Cruz Island? I'm going to be out there for the whole week next week, and I've got this new whiz-bang camera. I'd love to get a few shots. :uwphotographer: :sharkattack:
