Been out of diving for awhile but anxious to get back into the "swim" of things again. My two teenage daughters recently got OW certified in Grand Cayman and they have the "bug". Looking to dive in the Northeast (especailly NYS) area and annually down in the Carribean (I'm spoiled!). I've been diving a lot in my youth but need to get back to one of my loves. Looking for a dive buddy in central NY? Give me a try. I'm 55 but in excellent shape and easy to get along with, or so I like to think:)

welcome a board!!!!!!!
it's a ball diving with your kids--they remind you of yourself at that age!!!!!
if you ever get up to the other end of 81-give a shout!
have fun

A lot of folks from CNY dive over the weekends at Skaneateles Lake.
It's a little cooler than the Caribbean, but also a little closer to your
home.
Good way to get back into diving.
check out Freedom SCUBA USA - good place to start your
return.

Welcome to the board!

Actually, I am hoping to get up to A-Bay as early as next week with the girls. Wanna recommend any good shore entry locations?

PS: New to this so I probably got this screwed up, so apologies in advance:)

Oh Yeah. Welcome to Scubaboard!!!!

The St. Lawrence has tons of wreck dives (Keystorm, Gaskin, Kinghore, Vickery, Persons - just to name a few). Also, some wall dives - not as much fun...
Many divers go over to Canada and dive out Brockville or Kingston.
There are, I believe, two dive shops in Alex Bay on the US side as well.
Hope you have a great weekend!

Both of you have given us some good ideas for A-Bay. We will definitiely be doing one of them if not more. Is water vis consistent from one side of the border to the other,in general? I had heard Canadian side is clearer from a non-diver.

Also gonna be doing a dive up in Tobermory, this month. Better buy some long undies, I hear that water is COLD!

same water both sides......
bring your big boy panties for tobermory.......
freakin'cold all year!!!!!!!(water that is)
low 40's deep all summer-but well worth the extra insulation!!!!
diving is great and so are the people and shops!!!!!!!
a town just for divers!!!!
have fun
